Ecouter Sa parole

Celui qui écoute ma parole, et qui croit en celui qui m'a envoyé. . . n'entrera pas en jugement. (Jean 5:24)

Dans un feu de prairie, lorsque le vent est fort, le mur de flammes roule souvent sur vingt pieds de haut, détruisant hommes et bêtes dans sa course vers l'avant. Les pionniers savent qu'ils ne peuvent pas courir aussi vite que ce feu. Pas le plus rapide des chevaux ne peut y échapper. Mais ils prennent une allumette et allument l'herbe devant eux. Ces flammes balaient un espace, et les hommes suivent et prennent position dans le quartier brûlé, et sont en sécurité.

A l'endroit où ils se tiennent, le feu est déjà passé et il n'y a plus rien à brûler. Il y a donc un endroit sur terre que le jugement de Dieu a balayé. Il y a mille huit cents ans, la tempête a éclaté sur le Calvaire ; et le Fils de Dieu l'a endurée : et maintenant, si nous prenons position sur la Croix, nous sommes en sécurité pour le temps et pour l'éternité.

He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me. . . shall not come into judgment.(John 5:24)

In a prairie fire, when the wind is strong, the wall of flame often rolls along twenty feet high, destroying man and beast in its onward rush. The frontiersmen know they cannot run as fast as that fire. Not the fleetest horse can escape it. But they just take a match, and light the grass before them. These flames sweep a space, and men follow and take their stand in the burned district, and are safe.

Over the place where they stand the fire has already passed, and there is nothing left to burn. So there is one spot on earth that the judgment of God has swept over. Eighteen hundred years ago the storm burst on Calvary; and the Son of God endured it: and now, if we take our stand by the Cross, we are safe for time and for eternity.
