Rendre grâce à Dieu

Nous rendons grâce à Dieu et au Père de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ... pour l'espoir qui vous est donné dans les cieux. (Colossiens 1:3;5)

Beaucoup de personnes imaginent que tout ce qui est dit sur le ciel n'est qu'une question de spéculation. Ils parlent du ciel comme ils le feraient de l'air. Or, il n'y aurait pas eu autant de choses dans les Écritures à ce sujet si Dieu avait voulu laisser la race humaine dans l'obscurité à ce sujet. "Toute Ecriture", nous dit-on, "est inspirée de Dieu et utile pour enseigner, pour convaincre, pour corriger, pour instruire dans la justice, afin que l'homme de Dieu soit parfait, c'est-à-dire bien préparé à toutes les bonnes oeuvres.

Ce que la Bible dit sur le ciel est tout aussi vrai que ce qu'elle dit sur tout le reste. La Bible est inspirée. Ce que l'on nous enseigne sur le ciel ne peut pas nous venir autrement que par inspiration. Personne n'en savait rien à part Dieu, et donc si nous voulons en savoir plus, nous devons nous tourner vers Sa parole.

A great many persons imagine that anything said about heaven is only a matter of speculation. They talk about heaven much as they would about the air. Now there would not have been so much in Scripture on this subject if God had wanted to leave the human race in darkness about it. “All Scripture,” we are told, “is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect—thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

What the Bible says about heaven is just as true as what it says about everything else. The Bible is inspired. What we are taught about heaven could not have come to us in any other way than by inspiration. No one knew anything about it but God, and so if we want to find out anything about it we have to turn to His word.
