Notre méchanceté

" Ta propre méchanceté te corrigera, et tes déboires te châtieront ; sache donc et vois que c'est une chose mauvaise et amère, que tu as abandonné l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et que ma crainte n'est pas en toi, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées." (Jérémie 2:19)

J'ai beaucoup voyagé, mais je n'ai jamais trouvé de récidiviste heureux dans ma vie. Je n'ai jamais connu un homme vraiment né de Dieu qui puisse trouver le monde qui le satisfasse par la suite. Pensez-vous que le fils prodigue a été satisfait dans ce pays étranger ? Demandez aux prodigues d'aujourd'hui s'ils sont vraiment heureux. Vous savez qu'ils ne le sont pas.

“Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.”(Jeremiah 2:19)

I have traveled a good deal, but I never found a happy backslider in my life. I never knew a man who was really born of God that ever could find the world satisfy him afterward. Do you think the prodigal son was satisfied in that foreign country? Ask the prodigals to-day if they are truly happy. You know they are not.
