Jésus est la résurrection et la vie

"Je suis la résurrection et la vie. Celui qui croit en moi, bien qu'il soit mort, vivra. (Jean 11:25)

Lorsque j'étais un jeune homme, j'ai été appelé soudainement, à Chicago, à prêcher un sermon funèbre. De nombreux hommes d'affaires de Chicago devaient être présents, et je me suis dit : "Maintenant, ce sera une bonne occasion pour moi de prêcher l'évangile à ces hommes, et je recevrai un des sermons funèbres du Christ".

J'ai cherché dans les quatre évangiles pour trouver l'un des sermons funèbres du Christ, mais je n'en ai trouvé aucun. J'ai découvert qu'il avait interrompu tous les enterrements auxquels il avait assisté ! Il n'a jamais prêché un sermon funèbre dans le monde. La mort ne pouvait pas exister là où Il était. Quand les morts ont entendu Sa voix, ils ont repris vie.

When a young man, I was called upon suddenly, in Chicago, to preach a funeral sermon. A good many Chicago business men were to be there, and I said to myself, “Now, it will be a good chance for me to preach the gospel to those men, and I will get one of Christ’s funeral sermons.”

I hunted all through the four Gospels trying to find one of Christ's funeral sermons, but I couldn't find any. I found He broke up every funeral He ever attended! He never preached a funeral sermon in the world. Death couldn’t exist where He was. When the dead heard His voice they sprang to life.
