Appel à l'amour

Bien-aimés, aimons-nous les uns les autres, car l'amour est de Dieu, et quiconque aime est né de Dieu et connaît Dieu. (1 Jean 4:7)

La première impulsion d'un jeune converti est d'aimer. Vous souvenez-vous du jour où vous avez été converti ? Votre cœur n'était-il pas rempli d'une douce paix et d'amour ?

Je me souviens du matin où je suis sorti de ma chambre après avoir fait confiance au Christ pour la première fois. J'ai pensé que le vieux soleil brillait beaucoup plus fort qu'il ne l'avait jamais fait auparavant. Je pensais que le soleil ne faisait que me sourire. 

J'ai marché sur Boston Common, et j'ai entendu les oiseaux dans les arbres, et j'ai pensé qu'ils chantaient tous une chanson pour moi. Savez-vous que je suis tombé amoureux des oiseaux ? Je ne m'étais jamais occupé d'eux auparavant, mais il me semblait maintenant que j'étais amoureux de toute la création. Je n'avais aucun sentiment d'amertume contre aucun homme, et j'étais prêt à prendre tous les hommes dans mon cœur. Si un homme n'a pas l'amour de Dieu répandu dans son cœur, il n'a jamais été régénéré.

The first impulse of a young convert is to love. Do you remember the day you were converted? Was not your heart full of sweet peace and love?

I remember the morning I came out of my room after I had first trusted Christ. I thought the old sun shone a good deal brighter than it ever had before. I thought that the sun was just smiling upon me. 

I walked out upon Boston Common, and heard the birds in the trees, and I thought that they were all singing a song for me. Do you know I fell in love with the birds? I never cared for them before, but now it seemed to me that I was in love with all creation. I had not a bitter-feeling against any man, and I was ready to take all men to my heart. If a man has not the love of God shed abroad in his heart, he has never been regenerated.
