Le chemin à suivre

Car large est la porte, large est le chemin qui mène à la perdition, et il y en a beaucoup qui y entrent. Car étroite est la porte, et étroit est le chemin qui mène à la vie, et il y en a peu qui le trouvent. (Matthieu 7:13-14)

Beaucoup d'hommes seraient prêts à entrer dans le royaume de Dieu, s'ils pouvaient le faire sans renoncer au péché. Les gens se demandent parfois pourquoi Jésus-Christ, qui a vécu six cents ans avant Mahomet, a moins de disciples que Mahomet aujourd'hui. Il n'y a aucune difficulté à expliquer cela. Un homme peut devenir un disciple de Mahomet, et continuer à vivre dans le péché le plus vil, le plus noir, le plus profond ; mais un homme ne peut pas être un disciple du Christ sans renoncer au péché.

Many a man would be willing to enter into the kingdom of God, if he could do it without giving up sin. People sometimes wonder why Jesus Christ, who lived six hundred years before Mohammed, has got fewer disciples than Mohammed to-day. There is no difficulty in explaining that. A man may become a disciple of Mohammed, and continue to live in the foulest, blackest, deepest sin; but a man cannot be a disciple of Christ without giving up sin.
