Notre force

Comme tes jours, ainsi sera ta force. (Deutéronome 33:25)

Beaucoup regardent la vie chrétienne, et craignent de ne pas avoir la force suffisante pour tenir jusqu'à la fin. Ils oublient la promesse "Comme tes jours, ainsi sera ta force". Cela me rappelle le pendule de l'horloge qui se décourageait à l'idée de devoir parcourir tant de milliers de kilomètres ; mais lorsqu'il reflétait que la distance devait être accomplie par "tic-tac, tic-tac, tic-tac", il fallait un courage nouveau pour faire son voyage quotidien.

C'est donc le privilège particulier du chrétien de s'engager à garder son Père céleste, et de lui faire confiance jour après jour. Il est réconfortant de savoir que le Seigneur ne commencera pas le bon travail sans l'avoir également terminé.

Many look forth at the Christian life, and fear that they will not have sufficient strength to hold out to the end. They forget the promise "As thy days, so shall thy strength" It reminds me of the pendulum to the clock which grew disheartened at the thought of having to travel so many thousands of miles; but when it reflected that the distance was to be accomplished by "tick, tick, tick," it took fresh courage to go its daily journey.

So it is the special privilege of the Christian to commit himself to the keeping of his heavenly Father, and to trust Him day by day. It is a comforting thing to know that the Lord will not begin the good work without also finishing it.
